The team at MHP recently had a home renovation in Annandale, Virginia where we had an opportunity to transform a 1961 Split Foyer into a modern, rustic retreat. This home was full of potential with several desirable amenities. Its spacious layout, 2-car garage, large wooded lot, circular driveway, quiet street and convenient Annandale location made this home a great find. However, there were several areas of deferred maintenance and outdated finishes to be addressed. The team at MHP partnered with the owners on the design vision to bring this home back to life. How did we decide on the design of this Annandale, Virginia Pre-Sale Home Renovation?

As many home renovation projects do, this one started with a theme inspired by the surroundings. This Annandale, Virginia home tucked away neighborhood and large treed lot made a rustic theme a no-brainer. A large rear sunroom, flowing living area and centrally located kitchen had potential for an open, modern feel. By merging these elements, we came up with a beautiful Modern Rustic design.

UNIQUE ELEMENTS of this Annandale Virginia Home Renovation

The owners opted for several custom elements to make this home feel unique. For the kitchen & baths, we used a mix of hexagon, elongated hex (picket) style and subway tile to add to the rustic theme. Farmhouse lighting, warm wall colors and wood details kept the rustic theme consistent throughout. Custom wall treatments, modern lighting and a mix of black & satin brass hardware finished off this modern rustic look.
